SPIE Optifab 2025: See the Science Behind the Surface with Scientific Tool Co

The art of optics manufacturing is a dance of light and material. It’s a world where a lens is more than just glass; it’s a precisely shaped conduit for vision, measurement and discovery. But behind every flawless lens surface and every high-performance coating lies something equally important: the equipment that makes it all possible. This October, the entire optics manufacturing community will gather in Rochester, New York, for SPIE Optifab 2025 and Scientific Tool Company is excited to be there, ready to discuss the foundation of your optical achievements.

For us, the story doesn’t end with the lens itself. Our world exists in the spaces around it. In the machinery, fixtures and components that transform raw materials into optical masterpieces. We focus on the structural integrity and exacting tolerances required to hold, shape and finish optical elements. Consider the chassis that cradles the lens in an Army drone; it must be more than just a holder. It is a bedrock of stability, machined to perfection to guarantee that the lens performs its duty without fail, even under the most demanding conditions. That’s the kind of challenge we embrace.

At Optifab, the largest optical fabrication event in North America, the spotlight shines on every step of this intricate process. It’s the perfect venue for us to connect with engineers, production managers and designers who understand that the quality of their optical products is directly linked to the quality of the tools used to create them. We want to talk about the material science behind our fixtures, the design philosophy that goes into our workholding solutions and how our contributions support the entire manufacturing ecosystem.

We are particularly looking forward to the conversations that happen on the exhibition floor. These discussions are where we learn about the emerging challenges you’re facing and where we can share how our capabilities might provide a solution. Whether you’re working on new substrates, experimenting with novel coatings or pushing the limits of dimensional tolerances, the equipment supporting your process must be up to the task.

Our team will be on hand throughout the exhibition, from October 21st to the 23rd, eager to dive into the details of your projects.

We are thrilled to be part of this gathering and to contribute to the dialogue that moves our industry forward.

Houston, Vice President, shared his perspective on the event:

“We’re especially excited to see SPIE Optifab return to Rochester — a city with a rich history in precision manufacturing and, in particular, optics. Having this world-class event right here at home gives us the chance to connect with industry leaders, longtime partners, and emerging innovators who share our passion for craftsmanship and technology. It’s an incredible opportunity to celebrate the people and ideas that keep our region — and the optics industry — at the forefront of discovery.”

Join us at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center to see the science behind the surface. Let’s discuss how we can build a stronger foundation for your optics manufacturing.
